Living in Belltown, Seattle

Downtown & Core

Second and Third Avenues carry Belltown's densest run of restaurants and bars, ground floors of glass condo towers filling with crowds most evenings of the week. The Olympic Sculpture Park anchors the neighborhood's northern edge along the waterfront, nine acres of outdoor art and Puget Sound views maintained by the Seattle Art Museum. Pike Place Market's stalls sit a short walk south, close enough that Belltown residents treat the market as a regular grocery stop rather than a destination. Westlake Station puts the Link's 1 Line and 2 Line within a few minutes of most of the neighborhood, connecting Belltown to the airport in one direction and the University District in the other. Apartment and condo towers dominate the skyline here, built up over decades into one of downtown's densest residential pockets.

Nightlife noise carries into the small hours on the busiest blocks, and a rental near Second Avenue's bar row means a livelier soundtrack after dark than elsewhere downtown.

Groceries at the market, a walk through the sculpture park, and dinner within a few blocks make most days here entirely car-free, with the Link a short walk away for anything farther out.

Nearest station: Westlake (1 Line,2 Line) — about 13 min walk.

Sound Transit Link light rail lines that stop nearby — the colors match the 1 Line and 2 Line on the platform signs. Link is a spine reaching a slice of Seattle; most neighborhoods get around by bus instead, which we don't tag here.
